The Weavers of Orlando has four study groups to help new members and beginner weavers over the difficulties of the basics of weaving.
The groups are ‘The Lazy Kates,’ ‘Warping 101-Getting Started,’ ‘The Shuttle Clicks’ and ‘Tapestry Basics.’
They meet in either in the homes of the leaders or in a convenient location, based on the needs of the members of the group.
The ‘Lazy Kates’ group is under the direction of Sandy L. It started as a spinning group and has evolved into a weaving group, although many continue to spin. Frequently, they pick a book on a subject and then work through as many of the samples as they can fit in. They study for about an hour & a half, starting at 10:30 AM, then break for a pot luck lunch.
They meet in the Sanctuary Hall of the First United Methodist church of Mount Dora on Fifth Ave on the third Wednesday of each month from September through May. The Sanctuary Hall is located behind the Sanctuary. Parking is available between the church and the chapel.
‘The Lazy Kates’ welcomes new folks… that is what it is all about… the sharing of ideas and friendship. Consult with Sandy, below, regarding her next class. She is always open to new ideas and new members.
