Established in 1942, Weavers of Orlando is a nonprofit organization of over 100 members from the Central Florida area who are interested in the Fiber Arts.
The Guild participates in Florida Tropical Weavers Guild (FTWG) conferences along with Handweavers Guild of America (HGA) activities.
We also host an annual Holiday Sale in December each year.
A bimonthly newsletter, Fibergramme, with handwoven samples is published for members. Weaving instructions are also available for members who wish to learn to weave.
We are in the processes of finding a new regular/permanent meeting place, so please check each month to see where we are meeting. We hope to announce a regular meeting place soon.
Starting in May 2019, we’ll have our meetings at the Fashion Square Mall conference center.
Orlando Fashion Square Mall
3201 E Colonial Dr
Orlando, FL 32803
Once at the mall: Park in the front near Panera Bread, enter through the main mall doors to the left of Panera, walk straight toward Zales. As you approach Zales, bear to the right and walk down the hallway on right, next to Sam’s Watch and Jewelry repair. Follow signs to the bathroom. The Community Room will be on the left of the hallway.
The Mall opens at 10 a.m., so when you arrive early for our meetings, ask the guard to let you into the Mall.
Monthly Meetings are usually held the 3rd Saturday of the month. An informal gathering begins at 9:30 am for those who would like to have a chat with members about solving technical problems and obtaining new sources of tools and supplies. A business meeting follows at 10 am followed by a formal presentation by an experienced fiber artist or guest speaker. The meetings wrap up about one-ish.
Three-day workshops with nationally known instructors are held 2-3 times a year. Mini-workshops are occasionally held after lunch for a small materials fee.
